The Empire State of Sports

In the Fall 2019 semester at Fordham University, I took a course called Writing for Online Media, in which each student was tasked with a semester-long project of creating, publishing, and managing their own blog. The direction and theme we took was completely up to us, the only real instructions given to us were to publish at least one post per week prior to each class meeting and provide comments and feedback on our fellow classmates’ blogs.

Thus, I of course chose my site to be about sports, particularly within the realm of the New York market which I had grown up and was attending school in, and that was where The Empire State of Sports was conceived. When I was first ideating the website, I envisioned it being a destination where one doesn’t simply receive the typical game recaps or state lines that can be found all over the Internet, but where the passionate, New York sports fans can get that quality opinion and commentary surrounding the latest news and storylines of their favorite teams. The goal is to have the content arise from the New York perspective and create the discussions that New Yorkers are having regarding their sports teams.

Even now, the platform is a continuous work in progress, a personal project which I have more objectives for in the future. As I continue to pursue my career in sports, TESS will continue to be something I incorporate into that.

Visit the site here and check out any of the content that’s been published for any of the major teams in New York.
